Dr Grace O. Doane Alden Public Library Proceedures

Scholarships may be awarded annually from the Dr. Grace O. Doane Alden Public Foundation, (the “Foundation”), to a)members of the graduating class of Iowa Falls Alden High School, Iowa Falls, Iowa; b) to students pursuit of education at a two year, four year, vocational or technical college or university of the recipient’s choice
Notice of the availability of such scholarships shall be published annually on the library web site, posted in the IFA counselor’s office and the library.
Scholarship applications shall be submitted by candidates no later than March 15 of the current year. Applications shall consist of the student’s grade point average, extra-curricular activities, college or university preference, major and the reasons for these choices. The application form shall be delivered to an IFA counselor, library or submitted on line.
The award of scholarship shall be determined by the Foundation Board and the Library Director by majority vote.
The scholarship committee shall meet in April of each year to determine the scholarship recipients. Selection of scholarship recipients shall be based upon service to the library and the community, high school extra curricular activities, GPA (2.000 or above) and future goals.
Selection of candidates for receipt of scholarships shall be made without regard to color, race, creed, sex, religion, disability or national origin. A candidate’s choice of college or university shall not in any way influence the selection by the committee, nor shall the committee in any way influence a candidate’s choice of school or university aside from furnishing information.
All individuals who are on the Foundation Board shall rescue themselves from the selection process if an applicant is a family member.
Scholarships shall be in amounts as determined by the committee.
Scholarship recipients will receive the initial scholarship amount after proof of registration is provided to the scholarship committee following completion of the registration is provided to the scholarship committee following completion of the registration process for the first semester of courses. Scholarships shall be paid directly to the accounting office of the school of attendance.
